New Video from GE’s Critical Power Business Highlights Key “Expand vs. Build” Decision Points for Data Center and Communications Companies

DALLAS — April 1, 2016 — Meeting the growing demand for datacenter and communications capacity raises hard “expand versus build” questions. A new video short released by GE’s Critical Power business (NYSE: GE) explores how power protection and electrical distribution planning can fit into that planning equation.

“Putting power planning upfront in your data center strategies creates smarter total cost of ownership-focused options,” says Jeff Schnitzer, general manager of GE’s Critical Power business. “Newer uninterruptable power supply and power distribution technologies offer great migration options for new facilities, while retrofit upgrade technologies can create high-efficiency, high-density options for existing data centers.”

The video is part of a new series from GE that details the role that reliable, quality and efficient power plays in keeping data center, communications, computing and industrial customers’ operations flowing smoothly. The series, “Power Thoughts,” is available for viewing in the “Topics” section on the company’s information and resource page.
